Despite already moving away from the Mexican coast after causing heavy rains and strong gusts of wind, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported that “Milton” has once again become a Category 5 hurricane.
According to the agency, a large area of destructive storm surge is expected along a portion of the central-west coast of the Florida peninsula. If you are in a storm surge warning area, evacuate if directed by local authorities.

Furthermore, in the latest report of the National Water Commission (Conagua) as well as the National Meteorological Service (SMN)“Milton” is located 100 kilometers north of Río Lagartos, Yucatán and 150 kilometers northwest of Cabo Catoche, in Quintana Roo.
This cyclone regained strength after having passed very close to the coast of Yucatán, it was expected to could lose power on its way to Floridabut the forecasts indicate otherwise, so the alert remains in place in this area of the United States.
Due to the high danger it represents, to the point of being classified as the “worst hurricane in a century”local authorities have called to immediately evacuate high-risk areas, especially since they are barely recovering from the ravages of “Helene.”

“The entire peninsula of Florida is under some type of alert or warning“said Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Republican, on Tuesday.
It is expected that between Wednesday and Thursdaythis hurricane made landfall on the coasts of the Florida Peninsula.
