Minister K.N. Nehru personally inspected the suburbs of Chennai affected by the intensity of northeast monsoon

Chennai: Municipal Administration Minister KN Nehru is inspecting the areas of Chennai suburbs such as Mughalivakkam, Mangadu, Kulapakkam, etc., which are affected by the intensity of northeast monsoon.

Due to continuous heavy rains in Mughalivakkam, Mangadu and Kulapakkam, which are the suburbs of Chennai Corporation, rainwater has become stagnant and has caused damage to the public. In order to save the public from the floods in these specific areas and to avoid rain water stagnation, the Corporation employees are continuously involved in the work of draining the rain water that is currently stagnant there.

Especially with extra heavy motors, the accumulated rain water is continuously discharged through nearby drains. While this work is going on for 4 days now, Minister KN Nehru and officials are inspecting these affected areas in person. Not only did he meet the people of this area and hear the seriousness of the problems, but now they are also being given welfare assistance.

Moreover, the Minister has also issued instructions to the authorities as the public has requested to speed up the activities being carried out in these areas. Heavy motors have already been placed at 4 places and the rain can be discharged through nearby canals, it has been advised to speed up the work by fielding additional heavy motors where necessary.

Encroachments on stormwater drainage channels that may exist in these specific areas have been confirmed. The public was assured that steps have been taken to detect such encroachments and remove them immediately, and steps will be taken to prevent such problems from occurring in the future.
