Chairmanship COP29 announced the appointment of representatives from the Ministries of Adaptation, Mitigation and Article 6.

It was noted that the appointment of representatives is intended to help guide and inform the parties’ political consultations on these topics at Pre-COP29.
“In the run-up to the conference, ministerial representatives play an important role in strengthening mutual policy ties, as well as in advancing the key priorities of the COP29 Presidency on the global political agenda. Irish Minister for the Environment, Climate, Communications and Transport Faith Ryan and Minister of Environment and Energy of Costa Rica Franz Tattenbach appointed as climate change adaptation representatives.
Norwegian Minister of the Environment Tore O. Sandvik and Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment of South Africa Dion Travers George appointed representatives for climate change mitigation.
Singapore’s Minister for Sustainable Development and the Environment and New Zealand’s Minister for Climate Change have been appointed as Article 6 representatives of the Paris Agreement. Representatives will provide policy advice to assist parties in implementing Article 6 at COP29
In addition, Australia’s Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen and Minister for Climate Change Mitigation of Egypt Yasmin Fouad appointed as representatives on the New Collective Quantitative Goal (NCQG) for climate finance.
Italian Special Envoy for Climate Change Francesco CarvaroAdvisor to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Special Representative for International Environmental Cooperation Zulfiya Suleymanova appointed representatives on transparency issues.
