Her predecessor Sheynnis Palacios from Nicaragua placed the tiara on her head. Nigeria’s Chidimma Adetshina came second, while Mexico’s Maria Fernanda Beltran was named third.
“I’m standing here today because I want change.”
When asked after the freestyle what she wanted to say to the audience, Theilvig implored the audience to “keep fighting… no matter where you come from”: “I’m standing here today because I want to change, I want to make history, And that’s exactly what I’m doing tonight,” she said.

Miss Universe 2024 without a maximum age
For the first time there was no upper age limit for participation after the organizers removed this. Previously, only women between the ages of 18 and 28 were allowed to compete for the beauty crown. The oldest contestant in the Ciudad de México Arena was Cameroon-born Miss Malta, Beatrice Njoya, who is 40 years old and has three children.

Victoria Kjær Theilvig: Thank you so much! It’s an incredible feeling, and I’m still processing everything. The entire experience in Mexico City was surreal, and I’m grateful to represent Denmark on such a global platform.
Editor: You were chosen from 127 participants, which is no small feat. What emotions were you experiencing leading up to the final announcement?
Victoria: Honestly, it was a whirlwind. Excitement mixed with a bit of nervousness! When I was called into the top contestants, I focused on staying present and enjoying the moment. The atmosphere was electrifying, and when they finally announced my name as the winner, it felt like a dream come true.

Victoria: It’s an honor I carry with pride. I hope my win inspires other young women in Denmark and beyond to pursue their dreams fearlessly. Being a trailblazer is both a privilege and a responsibility.
