Misses the advantage and opportunity to triumph / Day

The first game turned out to be decisive. Led by Girtas Ankipānas Mogo/ RSU took the second place in the three-team competition in the D group of the Kontinental Cup (KK) hockey tournament in the Romanian city of Brasov and did not qualify for the next round.

To be or not to be a Latvian club in the November tournament in Denmark – the answer was received in extra time of the evening game of the first day of the October tournament after watching the video recording. Home team Brasov Crown vs Mogo/ RSU came back from 0:2 and 1:3 and threw the decisive puck in extra time, winning 4:3. Initially, the referees did not record the goal. The game continued, and only after a long time, when the whistle blew, it was possible to watch the episode on video replay. In an equal fight, it is quite natural that one team was superior only on the scoreboard.

The Romanian club masterfully used its opportunities with the legionnaires it had recruited. Mogo/RSU gained a two-puck lead by scoring twice on counterattacks in a two-on-one defense situation. After that, Kārlis Ozoliņš realized the “bullet” and it was already 3:1, but it was not enough to win the victory. Brasov Crown players scored two goals when Mogo/RSU goalkeeper Henry Anch did not really see the moment of the shot. It was surprising that the Latvian champions defeated the strongest Lithuanian club only in the last minute of regular time Energy with 6:5. Kārlis Ozoliņš threw the winning puck just 20 seconds before the final whistle. On the last day, the Hungarian team Ferencvaros was defeated without a nerve-wracking finish (5:2), but it was not enough to reach the next round. In the last game Energy showed a worthy resistance to the Brasov team (shots: 44:43 in favor of the Lithuanian club), but could not take away a point and lost 3:6.

In the November tournament Crown will play with Aalborg Pirates (Denmark), GKS Katowice (Poland) and Wolf Burners (France), on the other hand, the Eurocup season is over for Latvian champions.
