TRENTO. He was surprised by the cold, snow and darkness, finding himself in great difficulty despite being just a few hundred meters from the Tosa Pedrotti refuge, on the Brenta. A 36-year-old Israeli hiker was recovered during the night, with the onset of hypothermia, by the Alpine Rescue Service and taken to a refuge, where the rescuers waited for an improvement in the weather that would allow the helicopter to fly.
The alarm went off, as mentioned, during the night, around 2am. It was the hiker himself who called 112, asking for help and explaining that he was missing near the Tosa Pedrotti refuge and that he was in great difficulty due to the cold and the snowfall in progress. The Molveno Alpine Rescue station was immediately activated, reporting that it had an operator at the Tosa Pedrotti refuge, currently closed for work.
The rescuer then set off to look for the missing man. In about 15 minutes the hiker was found a few hundred meters from the refuge. Accompanied for shelter at the refuge, he was refreshed and welcomed for the night. Today, around 1.30 pm, an improvement in the weather conditions allowed the helicopter to fly at high altitude to recover the hiker, who was suffering from hypothermia in his lower and upper limbs, and to transfer him to the Santa Chiara hospital in Trento. The intervention of other Molveno station staff, who were alerted and present on the stand, was not necessary.
