The director said that he had told Mohanlal about changing the script of the film and told him that the script was not written with Mohanlal in mind. But Bapu said that he did not agree to change the script as he liked the script of the film. Salam Bapu said these things in an interview given to Master Bin Channel.
“I told this story to Lal sir in October 2012. After telling the story, I texted him the next month on Kerala’s birthday. Later he called me and told me to start the film.
I did not make any preliminary preparations just thinking that I would do it after three or four months. That’s why when he said that, there was fear. Later, the support given by the producers and distributors helped the film to start in November itself.
Therefore, script correction, location hunting, song composing and casting all took place within a very short period of time. Lal sir sometimes says that some movies happen. Red Wine is a movie that happened like that.
I had expressed a doubt to Lal sir at that time. This is not a script written in front of Lal sir. Of course, this is not the kind of character that those who love sir want. It’s the kind of character that sir doesn’t do. So I told him that I want to make the film giving more importance to Lal sir’s character.
I said ok this movie. If you change this movie and script it in a different way, then I can take a decision only after hearing the script. Now I said ok because of this subject and script. The film is important.
My character is important in the film. This is not a movie that I need to include songs or fight scenes. Even I am interested in watching such movies. People who love me will also want to watch this movie and that’s why I am doing this movie. Lal sir told me that there is no need to change.
We made the film without seeing any actor. Mohanlal had no fights or mass dialogues. There will be people who want to see it. “Some people who watched the movie said that the film with Fahadh and Asif Ali would have been affected by the fact that there was nothing like that,” said Salam Bapu.
