More than 17 thousand patients are admitted for dengue in Cuba

by times news cr

Currently, Cuba faces a health crisis with more than 17,000 patients admitted due to dengue, another of the thousands of problems facing the population.

The majority of these patients are receiving treatment at home, although a significant number are in intensive care rooms, according to Francisco Durán, the director of Epidemiology at MINSAP.

The epidemiologist highlighted the seriousness of the situation in his latest report, adding that dengue not only affects adults, but children are particularly vulnerable and require constant medical attention.

The high presence of mosquitoes and gnats has facilitated the spread of dengue and Oropouche fever in the country. In that sense, Durán noted that the disease has been reported in 14 provinces, evidencing an increase compared to previous days.

This highlights the worst situation in certain areas such as Santiago, Guantánamo and Camagüey, where garbage dumps further complicate the health situation.

Additionally, it is essential that citizens keep their areas clean to help control the presence of mosquitoes.

“Patients with dengue can be fine and due to lack of hydration they quickly become complicated”he stressed.

The impact of the epidemiological situation in Cuba is alarming, and both dengue and Oropouche fever remain active on the island.

With 56 municipalities and 51 health areas with active transmission, more and more localities are reporting cases.

This is added to the lack of medicines on the island, as well as ambulances and even hospitals in minimally decent conditions for patient care.

Meanwhile, the regime continues to boast from the rooftops of its so-called “medical potency.”
