The Normandy Region has just announced an immediate increase in the number of trains on the Caen-Rouen and Caen-Granville-Rennes lines. Up to 20 trains per day are now offered between Caen and Rouen during the week and 12 trains on this same route each weekend and public holiday. Since Monday, December 11, there have also been two additional trains per week between Caen and Granville, now bringing the offer to 12 trains per day on this route, as well as additional journeys from/to Rennes.

A welcomed announcement

The Region is committed to ensuring that these proposals are spread out throughout the day, so that as many users as possible benefit from them, whatever their needs. “This is really the good news about this initiative. It is not a question of increasing the number of trains, but of placing them well during the day for those who have time constraints. Obviously, we took this element into account and really, many of us are happy about it,” explains Michel, 59, who goes to Rouen between 2 and 4 times a week.

A journey is systematically provided during so-called “peak” hours and a train every two hours outside of these peaks. In addition, service is now systematic at the Serquigny, Brionne and Bourgtheroulde stops. Finally, until January 31, 2024, no less than 100,000 tickets will be on sale for journeys on these two lines. The price of these tickets will always be less than 10 euros, whatever the distance traveled: 5 euros up to 100 km; 7 euros between 100 and 200 km traveled and 9 euros beyond 200 km. “This announcement is welcome, especially during this holiday season, when we more than ever need to travel quietly and inexpensively,” greets Eugénie, 21, a literature student in Caen.
