Moroccan Sahara: Japan expresses its “appreciation of Morocco’s serious and credible efforts” within the framework of the autonomy initiative
Tokyo – Japan expressed, on Friday, its “appreciation of Morocco’s serious and credible efforts” within the framework of the autonomy initiative for the settlement of the Moroccan Sahara issue.
This position was expressed by the Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yoko Kamikawa, during her meetings in Tokyo with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad, Nasser Bourita, indicated the Japanese ministry. of Foreign Affairs in a press release.
Based on Japan’s “constant” position, Ms. Kamikawa referred to “the Moroccan autonomy initiative, presented on April 11, 2007 to the UN Secretary General”, underlining Morocco’s “serious and credible efforts to advance the process towards resolving the issue (Moroccan Sahara)”.
Mr. Bourita, who is visiting Japan, welcomed this position expressed by Japan on the subject of the Moroccan Sahara.
