The APA Executive Committee also approved the establishment of the permanent APA headquarters in Morocco.

Furthermore, the presidency of the APA was entrusted for a renewable two-year mandate to Kenya, which thus succeeds Egypt, while the treasury returned to Zambia, at the end of this General Assembly marked by the presence in particular of the King’s Attorney General at the Court of Cassation, president of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, El Hassan Daki, the outgoing president of the APA, Mohamed Chaouki, as well as presidents of public prosecutors from African countries.

This 17th congress, which will continue until July 12, began its work with the examination and adoption of the decisions resulting from the meeting of the Executive Committee of the APA, aimed at promoting the action of public ministries at the continent-wide, and to strengthen cooperation between these institutions.

This congress provides for the organization, Thursday and Friday, of an international seminar under the theme “the role of justice in the fight against environmental crime”.

On the menu of this seminar are sessions relating in particular to “the national and international legal framework for environmental protection”, “good practices in the field of the fight against environmental crime” and “the role of justice in protection of the environment”.

The 17th APA Congress brings together 88 participants, including prosecutors and public prosecutors from 34 African countries, as well as representatives and experts from several organizations and bodies, such as the International Organization for Migration, the European Network environmental agencies, the Council of Europe, the International Association of Prosecutors, the United Nations Office on Drug Crime and the African Union Administrative Tribunal.
