Initialed on the sidelines of the 16th International Agricultural Show in Morocco (SIAM), this act reflects the commitment of both parties to support the new collaboration project with the agricultural and forestry training and research consortium, bringing together the Agronomic Institute and Veterinarian (IAV) Hassan II, the National Institute of Agricultural Research (INRA), the National School of Agriculture of Meknes (ENAM) and the National Forestry School of Engineers (ENFI).
Costing 43 million dirhams (4 million euros) and lasting 3 and a half years, the “Ibtikar” project, funded by the EU, has four main objectives. The first is the adaptation of curricula to the challenges of ecological transition and the training of a new generation of students, teachers, agriculturalists and foresters in sustainable production practices and systems and better prepared for the challenges of climate.
The second objective concerns the consolidation of a collaborative research framework, oriented towards the issues of ecological transition and climate change, as well as the co-construction and validation of research results with a view to ensuring the sustainability of systems. food and forestry, while the third concerns the dissemination of skills and knowledge for and between stakeholders, in addition to the popularization of technical routes adapted to the ecological transition.
As for the fourth objective, it relates to the design and implementation of an incubation system and initial and continuing training modules relating to entrepreneurship around sustainable production/consumption sectors.
“Support for the training and research system, made up of four renowned Moroccan agricultural and forestry establishments, aims to strengthen the preparation of new generations of women and men decision-makers, engineers, teachers, technicians, advisors and researchers from the world of agriculture, livestock and forestry to face even more effectively the joint challenges of climate change, the regeneration of resources and biodiversity as well as green entrepreneurship”, affirmed , on this occasion, Mrs. Llombart Cussat.
For his part, Mr. Sadiki underlined that “this Morocco-EU green partnership demonstrates our commitment to sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture and for which we welcome the concrete actions already undertaken and those included in the perspective” , adding that the subsidy to the national agricultural training and research system is part of this framework, with the aim of supporting the adaptation of Moroccan agricultural and forestry training and research to the challenges of the transition.
The “Ibtikar” project is part of the “AL ARD AL KHADRAA-Terre Verte” Program, funded by the EU, with a total amount of 115 million euros, which contributes to the objectives of sustainability and socio-economic inclusion of agricultural and forestry policies, in support of the “Green Generation” and “Forests of Morocco” strategies, and is being implemented in 4 pilot agroforestry regions (Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, Béni Mellal-Khénifra, Drâa Tafilalet and the Oriental).
Organized until April 28 under the theme “Climate and agriculture: For sustainable and resilient production systems”, the 16th edition of SIAM sees the participation of nearly 70 countries, including Spain as guest of honor , and 1,500 exhibitors.
More than 950,000 visitors are expected at this high mass of Moroccan and international agriculture which offers a rich program of 40 conferences and round tables on crucial current themes.
