During the “Morocco Now” conference organized as part of the Economic Roadshow of the Moroccan Agency for the Development of Investments and Exports (AMDIE) in Germany, Ms. Alaoui highlighted the common desire of the two countries to strengthen their partnership in a win-win perspective and mutual respect.
This desire was materialized by the launch, in July 2023, of the bilateral strategic dialogue, making Germany a privileged partner for Morocco, recalled Ms. Alaoui, noting that trade between the two countries is recording spectacular growth with a bilateral trade volume having reached nearly 6 billion euros in 2023.
In this capacity, the diplomat highlighted the particular interest shown by German investors in Morocco, particularly in the aeronautics, automobile and green hydrogen sectors.
“These sectors, thanks to structural reforms and the far-sighted vision of HM King Mohammed VI, offer promising investment opportunities, supported by an attractive macroeconomic environment in Morocco,” she added.
Furthermore, the Ambassador underlined the growing strategic importance of relations between Morocco and Germany, not only economically, but also in terms of political cooperation and energy partnership.
“This relationship takes place in a troubled international context, where the convergence of common interests between the two countries reaches an unprecedented level,” she said.
In this sense, Ms. Alaoui considered the visit to Germany of the Minister Delegate in charge of Investment, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies, Mohcine Jazouli, who is currently leading a Roadshow, as an illustration of the renewed will of Morocco to strengthen its ties with Germany and explore new opportunities for closer economic cooperation.
The “Morocco Now” Conference in Munich was held under the theme “Creating synergies for sustainable partnerships”. It was attended by Mr. Jazouli, Deputy Director General at the Federal Ministry of Economy and Protection of the climate, Ursula Borak, of the general director of the Moroccan Agency for the Development of Investments and Exports (AMDIE), Ali Seddiki, of the Vice-President General of the General Confederation of Entreprises du Maroc (CGEM), Mehdi Tazi, and the Director General of Investment and Business Climate at the ministry, Ghali Skalli.
The choice of Munich as the venue for this Conference, which brought together more than 200 participants among German and Moroccan businessmen residing in Germany, can be explained according to the organizers by its status as the capital of Bavaria and its central role in the German economy.
After Spain at the end of January, the 2024 tour to promote the Morocco destination to foreign investors and principals continued in Germany as part of a Roadshow organized from April 22 to 25 by AMDIE, in partnership with the Moroccan Embassy in Germany.
This Roadshow takes place in a particular context marked by the launch of the “Morocco Offer”, and the realization of several strategic investment agreements in the electric battery sector aimed at the emergence of a national green automobile ecosystem, which could be consolidated with leading German operators.
The tour was marked by meetings with German decision-makers, investors and institutional representatives, as well as visits to sites belonging to the largest German industrial companies in the fields of electrical, electronic technologies and industrial automation.
