The program, signed by the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance, in charge of the Budget, Fouzi Lekjaa, the Ambassador of Japan to Morocco, Kuramitsu Hideaki, and the Resident Representative of the Japanese Cooperation Agency International (JICA) in Morocco, Kawabata Tomoyuki, in the presence of the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khalid Ait Taleb, aims to accelerate progress towards Universal Health Coverage in Morocco.
Thus, it is a question of improving the delivery and quality of maternal and child health and nutrition services, particularly in rural areas, and of strengthening health financial protection, thus contributing to promoting economic stability and development efforts in the country. Morocco.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Lekjaa underlined that this loan agreement illustrates the solidity and exemplary nature of the historical relations which link Morocco with Japan and JICA.
In this wake, he recalled that around forty development projects, covering key sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture and ports, unite the two countries, thus strengthening their sustainable and fruitful cooperation.
Lekjaa further stressed that this agreement stands out for its particular importance, providing financial support for a major reform which is among the priorities of the Executive’s agenda.
In this same vein, Mr. Ait Taleb indicated that this signing comes at the right time, reaffirming the ministry’s firm commitment to deploy all necessary efforts to achieve the expected objectives.
For his part, Mr. Kuramitsu noted that JICA and the Moroccan Ministry of Health and Social Protection have agreed on a matrix of health policies which are the subject of this loan, including in particular the generalization of health coverage. universal health and the quantitative and qualitative improvement of services related to maternal-child health and nutrition.
For his part, Mr. Kawabata indicated that JICA will spare no effort to support the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in order to realize the targeted actions of this program and thus contribute to the achievement of the objectives set out in the part of the Royal shipyard.
The Development Policy program for achieving UHC is in perfect alignment with the reference frameworks and strategies of the health sector, namely the 2025 health plan, framework law No. 09.21 relating to social protection , and the key axes of the New Development Model, in this case axis n°2 “Quality health services and health protection as fundamental rights of citizens” and axis n°3 “Ensuring a foundation protective which strengthens resilience and inclusion and materializes solidarity between citizens” and its targets for 2035.
