This agreement, concluded in the presence of the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Ryad Mezzour and the Swiss federal councilor in charge of the economy, training and research, Guy Parmelin, aims to promote partnership between representatives of the sector in both countries and to meet the challenges of competitiveness.
Sector players are counting on this memorandum to strengthen relations with Swiss investors and customers, with a view to establishing a dynamic of integration between the textile sectors of the two countries, noted the president of AMITH, Anas El Ansari , in a statement to MAP.
”Moroccan textiles are advanced in the ready-to-wear industry, but the problem of raw fabrics persists. This is why professionals aspire to the establishment of Swiss units on the Moroccan market to supply this raw product, thus strengthening our capacity to access new European and American markets,” he said.
”The Swiss and Moroccan textile sectors are complementary,” he underlined, noting that each of them achieves around 6 billion euros in annual turnover, with nearly 1,500 companies, employing 220,000 workers. Moroccan and 20,000 in Swiss units.
For his part, the president of the Swiss Textile Federation, Carl Illi, expressed his “optimism” regarding the launch of promising prospects for cooperation between professionals in Morocco and Switzerland, in order to respond to common interests in a sector facing the challenges of global geopolitical transformations.
He also praised the level of performance of the sector in Morocco, based on extensive experience and a qualified workforce, highlighting the importance of collaboration that evolves according to the growth of cooperation and exchanges between two countries.
Under this memorandum, professionals from both countries undertake to raise public and institutional stakeholders’ awareness of the strategic importance of the partnership project in this sector, and to deploy the necessary efforts to stimulate foreign direct investment in the industries. textiles and clothing.
Likewise, the agreement aims to facilitate commercial exchanges to encourage exports and imports of the sector, in addition to organizing joint events such as seminars, workshops and meetings between entrepreneurs, with the aim of serving the interests of the sector in both countries.
