“Morocco plays a key role in the partnership with the EU in many important areas, including the energy transition and the fight against climate change, migration, the fight against terrorism and radicalization, and many other areas strategic,” Mr. Halla-aho told the press, stressing that his country fully supports the strengthening of relations between the EU and Morocco.

Mr. Halla-aho welcomed, on this occasion, the “excellence” of relations between Morocco and Finland which “share many values ​​and ambitions” on the international scene, the two countries being “fervent defenders of the rules-based international order.

He also welcomed the reforms undertaken by Morocco which demonstrate a coherent and ambitious development trajectory of the Kingdom, stressing, in this regard, that his visit to Morocco reflects the ambitions of the Nordic country to deepen relations between friendship between the two countries.

For the Speaker of the Finnish Parliament, it is possible to strengthen bilateral relations “on many fronts, particularly in the economic field.”

In this sense, Mr. Halla-aho considered that the existing memorandums of understanding in the areas of renewable energy and integrated water resources constitute a “good basis for increasing our collaboration”, also citing the potential for cooperation increased in the areas of digitalization, education and the circular economy.
