The Kingdom’s reception of this event also reflects “the high attention paid by HM King Mohammed VI to sport in Morocco, and particularly school sport, as evidenced by the overall mobilization and the promising results recorded”, underlined the ministry in a press release, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding for the organization in Morocco of the world school golf championship for the years 2025, 2026 and 2028.
The signing, on Friday, of this memorandum of understanding, by Mr. Chakib Benmoussa, and the International School Sports Federation, the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation and the Royal Moroccan School Sports Federation, is part of the ministry’s strategy aimed at the promotion of school sport, and the encouragement of the practice of other sporting disciplines including golf, notes the ministry.
The 2022-2026 roadmap accords, as part of its objectives, great importance to school sport and motor activities within schools, in particular through the expansion and diversification of the sports offering addressed to students, in close collaboration with the Royal Sports Federations concerned, notes the same source.
The signing of this memorandum also comes as part of the efforts made to strengthen the practice of golf by students within the framework of school sports, taking into account its role in the consecration of positive values, and the improvement of skills and in as a pool of talent and training for the champions of the future, underlines the same source.
The ministry works, in collaboration with the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation, and the Royal Moroccan School Sports Federation, to encourage students to practice golf, through the organization of visits to several regions of the Kingdom and the holding of meetings. initiation to this sport, recalls the same source, adding that sport-study cycles have been opened in certain schools in Rabat and Agadir, with 32 students (boys and girls) registered in these cycles.
The National School Golf Championship will be held from May 17 to 19 in Rabat, as part of strengthening the practice of golf within educational establishments and expanding the base of its practitioners.
