Moscow exchange and RTS indices fell amid Lavrov’s statements

The Moscow Exchange index fell below 3600 points for the first time since December 14, and the RTS index updated its minimum since May 4, falling below 1500 points. By the closing level, IMOEX loses 1.13%, RTSI – 0.8%. The decrease occurred against the backdrop of statements by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov that Russia is able to ensure its own security without waiting for promises from Western countries.

Decreasing leaders in the Moscow Exchange index:

  • Tinkoff (-7.3%),
  • Fixprice (-5.7%),
  • Globaltrans Investment PLC (–5,4%),
  • VK (–5,2%),
  • Sberbank (-4.8%).

The dollar exchange rate against the ruble loses 18 kopecks, to 76 rubles, the euro – 17 kopecks, to 87.1 rubles.

Russian indices are falling for the second day on the background of statements by officials about the futility of further negotiations with the US and NATO. Yesterday, after an interview with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov to RTVI about the negotiations that ended the day before, the RTS index lost more than 3%, and the Moscow Exchange index – more than 2%.
