Minister KN Nehru inaugurated the Cauvery Bridge at Trichy for traffic use.
Cauvery Bridge is one of the landmarks of Trichy. There were potholes at various places on this bridge causing inconvenience to motorists. The bridge, which is 540 meters long and 15 meters wide, became unusable due to cracks in the pillars supporting it.
As a result, the 45-year-old bridge was closed for traffic last September. Also, due to the diversion of traffic on the Cauvery Bridge, there was heavy traffic congestion on the Chennai-Trichy National Highway. Keeping this in mind, the work of repairing the Cauvery Bridge was going on fast.

Recently, the construction of tarred road on Cauvery bridge was completed. In this case, Minister KN Nehru opened the Trichy Cauvery flyover for traffic. Speaking later, the minister said that public and motorists are happy with the opening of Trichy bridge. The event was attended by Collector Pradeep Kumar, Central Zone IG Karthikeyan.
