The head of the Civil Aviation and Air Transport Authority in Syria, Ashhad Al-Salibi, said in a statement carried by the (INA): “Damascus International Airport started receiving international flights on Tuesday, January 7 of this year,” giving noted that “flights were found.” International from the UAE, Qatar and Turkey.
Al-Salibi said, “The airport is going through a comprehensive rehabilitation phase in collaboration with international partners, to ensure that it will receive flights from different parts of the world,” emphasizing, “Comprehensive rehabilitation work is being carried out for Damascus and Aleppo airports. , to ensure that air activity in Syria is restored in a safe manner and in accordance with international standards.” .
He continued: “Communications are underway with European aviation authorities to operate airlines between Damascus and European countries before the beginning of summer 2025.”
