In a statement to MAP, Mr. Talbi Alami stressed that Morocco’s participation in this meeting comes within the framework of the concretization of the Final Declaration of the 17th Session of the PA-UfM, called “the spirit of Rabat “, which constitutes a plea for a “united front” in the face of the major common challenges of the Euro-Mediterranean region.

Emphasizing the importance of the PA-UfM as a space for dialogue and consultation between the two shores of the Mediterranean in the service of peace, stability and development in the region, the President of the House of Representatives indicated that this meeting served to develop a road map relating to the next activities of the parliamentary assembly.

According to Mr. Talbi El Alami, the holding of this type of meeting aims to exchange experiences and expertise and to maintain permanent communication, noting that the main objective is to defend the supreme interests of Morocco in international forums.

He added that the meeting was also an opportunity to examine organizational issues, including the establishment of the general secretariat of the AP-UfM and the participation of other countries, such as Senegal and the Mauritania, at future meetings of this regional parliamentary institution.

This meeting was attended by the European Parliament, the Spanish Congress of Deputies, the Egyptian House of Representatives, the Turkish and Italian Parliaments, as well as the Moroccan Parliament. It constituted a space for dialogue on the situation in the Mediterranean region and the future prospects and challenges of Mediterranean cooperation, in addition to the exchange around several questions linked to the management of the Assembly.

The House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco is one of the founders of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean and has already held its presidency.

The PA-UfM is a forum for Mediterranean dialogue and cooperation which meets in plenary session at least once a year, with the participation of representatives of EU countries and their partners from the countries of the southern shore of the Mediterranean. Mediterranean.
