New Delhi Man Arrested for Defrauding Indian Cricketer and Taj Hotel

25-year-old Mrinank Singh has been accused of defrauding several individuals and establishments by posing as a prominent figure in the cricket and law enforcement community. In May of last year, Singh allegedly swindled Indian cricket star Rishabh Pant out of over one crore rupees.

Most recently, Singh was arrested by Delhi Police for failing to pay Taj Hotel a sum of Rs 5.5 lakh. During his stay at the Taj Palace Hotel from July 22 to 29, 2022, Singh claimed to be the owner of a major footwear company and assured the hotel that his company would cover the expenses. He even presented a fake transaction number for a payment of Rs 2 lakh through the internet, which was later discovered to be fraudulent.

Despite multiple follow-ups by the hotel management, Singh continually delayed payment. His attempts to evade the situation came to an end when he was apprehended at Delhi airport while attempting to flee to Hong Kong on the 25th of this month. During interrogation, he reportedly tried to evade questioning by posing as a senior IPS officer.

In addition to his recent arrest, criminal cases have been filed against Singh, who holds an MBA, in Mumbai, Karnal, and Mohali. It appears that Singh’s elaborate schemes have finally caught up with him, and authorities are working to hold him accountable for his alleged fraudulent activities.
