Person Wanted in Custody for Murder of Missing Boy in Alingsås

Alingsås, Sunday – A young man born in 2007 has been requested to be detained on probable cause on suspicion of the murder of a 15-year-old boy who had been missing for almost a week in Alingsås. The person, who had already been detained on suspicion of kidnapping, is now wanted in custody for murder after an extensive investigation led by prosecutors. Unfortunately, the missing boy has not yet been found.

The development in the case will be announced at a joint press conference held by the prosecutors and police at 3:00 p.m. today at the Police House in Alingsås after the detention hearing. This press conference aims to provide the public with updated information on the progress of the investigation.

The person currently being remanded in custody is one of the two suspects in the case. The other person is still held on suspicion of protecting a criminal, which is considered a serious offense. The deadline for this person’s custody expires tomorrow at 12:00 p.m., at which point the prosecutor will decide whether to request further detention or release.

A third person, who had been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping on Friday, was released yesterday afternoon. The prosecutor made the decision as the suspicions against this person weakened during the investigation. It is unclear at this time what impact this release will have on the ongoing investigation.

All individuals who have been arrested so far are considered reasonably suspected, with the degree of suspicion being the weaker one. This implies that further evidence and investigation will be required to determine their involvement in the case.

The detention hearing will take place today in Alingsås district court, starting at 1:30 p.m. The case number for the hearing is B 1859-23.

The Prosecutor’s Office’s press service has stated that they currently do not have access to any documents related to the case.
