Two advisers of the interim government, Nahid Islam and Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, visited the Dhaka Medical College (DMEC) hospital to see the injured in the anti-discrimination student movement.

They arrived in DM on Sunday (October 13) afternoon, talked to the patients admitted in the old burn unit and inquired about the treatment. At this time, two advisers handed over a check of one lakh rupees to each of them for financial support.

At this time, Advisor Nahid Islam assured that the treatment system will be improved in the current situation of the patients.

The advisers said that a total of 1 crore 71 lakh 42 thousand 50 taka was given to 176 people across the country on this day. The advisors are given this assistance on behalf of ‘Julai Shaheed Smriti Foundation’.

Helpline numbers and websites have been launched for the victims of the movement, they said, adding that problems and assistance can be reported by calling 16000 number from 10 am to 6 pm.

It should be noted that the movement started in the beginning of last July demanding reform of quota in government jobs. Later that movement took the form of a movement to overthrow the government. At one point, there was a coup by the students. In the face of this coup, Sheikh Hasina’s government collapsed on August 5.

According to the government’s calculations, 737 people died in that movement. More than 23 thousand people were injured. 400 of them lost their eyes. 200 people lost both eyes.
