The share of green energy in energy production in Nakhchivan reached 55 percent
As Day.Az reports, this was announced to Trend on Friday by the deputy head of the State Energy Service of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, acting head Maherram Abbasov.
He noted that the more “green” energy is used, the less carbon dioxide will be released into the atmosphere.
“One of the main goals set for our country is to reduce carbon emissions into the atmosphere to 40 percent by 2050.
Currently, the increase in the share of green energy in energy production to 55 percent means that carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere have also decreased significantly compared to previous years.
The Energy Service has taken certain steps in this direction. This reduced daily carbon emissions to zero.
On October 11, the Autonomous Republic’s electricity demand of 947,508 kWh was fully satisfied by green energy. Compared to other days, about 130 thousand cubic meters of natural gas were saved, and carbon emissions that day dropped to zero.
The adoption of these steps within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) will lead to more efficient use of alternative energy sources in the Autonomous Republic.
To combat climate change caused by global warming, we must be more environmentally conscious, prevent uncontrolled use of electricity, use it sparingly and not waste it to maintain a clean environment, leaving a cleaner and more livable world heritage for the future generations,” he added.
