NASA astronauts grow chili peppers on the ISS

by time news

For the first time, American astronauts managed to grow pepper on board the ISS. As part of the experiment, which started on July 12, astronauts planted chili seeds and are now waiting for the harvest.

The plants are already in bloom and are beginning to bear fruit, according to a NASA report. At the same time, the fruit turned out to be smaller than that ripening under terrestrial conditions, and there is still no explanation for this behavior of the plant under microgravity conditions.

“Keep an eye on the harvest later this year,” the message said.
