‘Suspicions of bullying within the hive’ likely to be answered

Hani (pictured) from the girl group New Jeans announced that she would appear as a witness at the National Assembly’s Environment and Labor Committee audit held on the 15th. The Hwannow Committee plans to ask about ‘workplace bullying’ and ‘idol bullying issues.’

According to the music industry on the 10th, Hani wrote on the New Jeans fan communication platform Poning the previous day, “I have decided to go to the National Assembly,” and “I will go to the National Assembly audit alone.” Hani said, “You don’t have to worry,” and “I decided to go out for the sake of myself, my members, and the ‘Bunnys’ (New Jeans fandom).” He also said, “I don’t know the manager or the company yet. “I’ve thought about it a lot, but it’s right for me to leave,” he said. He added, “I don’t know what will happen, but I think it will be a learning experience,” adding, “I will protect New Jeans and Bernie’s.”

Suspicions of New Jeans bullying were first raised on the 11th of last month during a YouTube live broadcast in which they requested the return of former Adore CEO Min Hee-jin. Hani claimed that she was being ostracized within the agency, with the manager of Aillet, a girl group belonging to Belif Lab, a label under Hive, targeting her and telling her to “ignore her.” At the time, Hani said, “I said hello to a member of another team (Belif Lab’s girl group), but the manager of that group told me to ignore (us),” and added, “I don’t know why I had to go through this.”

In response to this, Belif Lab countered that it was not true based on closed-circuit (CCTV) TV and an investigation into the person in question. In an official statement on the 7th, Belif Lab refuted, saying, “We strongly demand that attempts to defame the new artist (Aillet) be stopped immediately,” and “There was no comment to ignore or no failure to say hello.” As the controversy grew, Hani was selected as a reference in the government audit, and Kim Joo-young, CEO of her agency Adore, was selected as a witness.

Meanwhile, New Jeans fandom Bernese filed a complaint against CEO Kim and others at Yongsan Police Station in Seoul this morning on charges of breach of trust and obstruction of business. Hive’s PR manager and others were accused of stealing and illegally leaking personal information, and were accused of violating the Personal Information Protection Act.
