New natural gas deposit discovered in Bangladesh

Dhaka: Bangladesh A new natural gas deposit with large fossil fuel potential has been discovered in the southern part of the country of Bangladesh.

State-owned Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Limited (BAPEX) discovered the gas reserves in Bhola district, Xinhua news agency reported. Minister of State for Energy Nazrul Hameed announced the discovery of new gas reserves.

The newly discovered reserves will extract 20 million cubic feet of gas per day, the ministry said in a statement. BAPEX discovered the gas by drilling at a depth of about 3,428 meters.

The minister noted on his Facebook page that Petrobangla will drill 46 new exploration and workover wells by 2025.
