In this first phase, the new electronic interlocking is put into operation, which includes the two general circulation routes of the suburban lines R2 and R11. In the second, the action will be completed with the adaptation of the new equipment to the future track configuration of the intermodal freight center. After the assembly of the new interlocking and the field elements, tests will be carried out at the La Llagosta station and in its relations with the collateral stations of Montcada i Reixac and Mollet-Sant Fost. In addition, its integration into the Barcelona Centralized Traffic Control will be completed.

The actions in the traffic management, signaling and communications systems in the Llagosta area represent an investment of 17 million euros, of the 107 million mobilized in the operation of the new Multimodal Logistics Node.

The operations, incompatible with railway circulation, will be carried out between midnight on Friday the 22nd and Saturday the 23rd and 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 24, and will involve modifications to the commuter service and the interruption of circulation between the Montcada stations. i Reixac and Mollet-Sant Fost on lines R2 north and R11, so Renfe has established an alternative transport plan.

Future interoperable and high-capacity node

The La Llagosta logistics center, located fifteen kilometers from Barcelona, constitutes a fully interoperable and high-capacity node, which will promote rail transport in an area of great socioeconomic potential, such as the Mediterranean axis and its area of influence. La Llagosta will become in a reference for the treatment of freight trains of interoperable standard length, compatible with the rest of the European railway networks of 750 meters, connecting it in mixed gauge to the El Papiol-Mollet line and in standard gauge to the high-speed network, in both cases from the Mollet Bifurcation.

The future configuration of this goods transport terminal will allow for a new set of reception/dispatch tracks made up of parallel tracks with lengths greater than 750 meters, mounted in mixed gauge and electrified at 3,000 V. Likewise, it is planned to remodel the accesses. to the terminal through the standard gauge connection with the Mediterranean Corridor, from the viaduct of the Barcelona-French border high-speed line, the adaptation to the mixed gauge between the La Llagosta platform and the El Papiol-Mollet line, and the connection south with the Cercanas network.
