The newly elected Management Board of the Council of Rectors of Higher Schools in the Republic of Bulgaria gathered for its first meeting today. After voting, the rector of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, Prof. Dr. Georgi Valchev and Prof. Dr. Dobri Yarkov, rector of Thrace University – Stara Zagora, were elected as vice-presidents of the Council. The rector of the University of Economics – Varna, Prof. Dr. Evgeni Stanimirov, was elected as the general secretary of the association.
The Chairman of the Council of Rectors, Prof. Dr. Miglena Temelkova, clarified to her colleagues that a protocol was received from the Control Council with the chairman, Prof. Dr. Milen Baltov, for the General Accountability and Election Meeting held on 13.03.2024. The elections made correspond to statutes and are lawful. The members of the Board of Directors unanimously confirmed their support for the opinion of the previous management against the dropping of the fees for the state contract students. As their future goals, they set the expansion of the public presence of the Council of Rectors and its public reputational affirmation, the facilitation of the procedures for obtaining visas by foreign students from countries outside the European Union and ensuring sustainability in terms of the remuneration of the academic and administrative staff of higher schools.
