OR Nicole Kidman called her new love movie “Babygirl” an aphrodisiac – so much so that she had to pause during sex scenes to stop her feeling of arousal.

The Oscar-winning actress gave an interview to The Sun on Tuesday, revealing some personal behind-the-scenes details she experienced with her co-stars,
Harris Dickinson and Antonio Banderas.

In the film, Nicole Kidman plays Romy – a powerful corporate CEO – who is married to Jacob, played by Banderas. But she begins a fiery relationship with a younger intern, Samuel, played by Dickinson.

During the sex scenes with the two men, Kidman said she was there “a lot of confidence and then disappointment”, so much so that they didn’t want to touch her anymore.

“In these scenes we shared a lot and then came the disappointment. There were times when I said: I don’t want to have an orgasm anymore. Don’t come near me. I hate doing this. I don’t care if they don’t touch me again in my life. It was so present all the time for me, it was almost like exhaustion.”

OR film inspired by ‘Basic Instinct’, which hits cinemas in winter 2025.

“Babygirl” had its world premiere at the recent Venice Film Festival where Kidman won the award for best actress, and the film was described as “bold” and “exciting”. Nicole Kidman said at the film’s premiere in Venice that the experience with director Halina Reijn alongside her was liberating. “The child is obviously about sex, but it’s also about desire, our hidden thoughts, secrets, marriage, truth, power, consent. It’s a woman’s story and I hope it’s a story of redemption. A woman tells it through her own eyes, and the fact that I was in the hands of a woman with this particular story was very deep and liberating.”
