Mounting Resident Complaints
The intensifying construction activity is provoking a new wave of protests from those living near the route. According to reports from France 3 Régions, residents claim construction crews are routinely working past 8 p.m., and sometimes even after 10 p.m. A couple residing approximately 60 meters from the construction zone in Cambounet-sur-le-Sor have repeatedly reported the disturbance, citing significant impacts on their sleep and overall quality of life. Photographic evidence reportedly shows construction ongoing as late as 10 p.m. on January 7, 2026.
These complaints are not isolated incidents. As early as October 2025, residents of Montcabrier and other municipalities within Haute-Garonne began filing formal complaints regarding similar schedule overruns.
Despite the ongoing concerns, authorities have yet to publicly authorize an extension of working hours. France 3 Régions reports that no official exemption has been published by the Prefecture of the Tarn. A consultation was initiated at the beginning of 2026 with the 17 municipalities affected by the project, and a majority of local elected officials reportedly voiced their opposition to extending the construction schedule.
Notably, the Prefecture has not responded to requests for comment regarding the situation. This silence is fueling further frustration among residents and local leaders.
