BOLZANO. It all started in via Bottai: first the request for help from a young woman, who complained about how a man, a 29-year-old foreign citizen (SB, Gambian, already known to the police officers), was stationed under her house, threatening her, then the arrival of the police cars. At the basis of the crazy gesture, a now shattered relationship: after the breakup SB had started to threaten the woman, who had already filed a complaint.
Also during the night, at 4.15, the intervention of the Fire Brigade was necessary: a bin on fire, then another, at 4.20, and yet another, at 4.45, and so on (4.55, 5.00): 11 bins on fire, in the overall account. Another 20 ended up on the street, between via Renon, via Piani di Isarco, via macello, via Brennero and via Dodiciville. The climax arrived after 5.00 (5.10), with the report of a taxi driver who noticed the same man, already removed and reported in via Bottai, collecting cardboard to set fire to bicycles in Piazza Stazione.
When the police arrived, the 29-year-old resisted, including kicks and punches: the result was the arrest, for the crimes of damage followed by aggravated fire and violence and resistance to a public official. Even if he holds a Residence Permit for subordinate work, the Police Commissioner of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano Paolo Sartori, after the hearing to validate the arrest, considering the current total absence of work activity and the recidivist nature of the crimes, it ordered the immediate revocation of SB’s residence permit, with associated expulsion.
“The behavior of this foreign citizen, who set fire and devastated dozens of bins, regardless of the public good and every rule of civil coexistence – stated Police Commissioner Paolo Sartori – was unacceptable behavior. His arrest, the revocation of the residence permit and the consequent expulsion that I decreed against him represent the right consequence towards those who have given ample demonstration of not respecting the laws of the country that welcomed him, refusing to integrate and creating serious problems of public order and the safety of citizens”.
