Nike announced on the 28th that it had joined hands with the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation and Gangnam-gu on the 26th to create a second ‘Everyone’s Playground’.
Everyone’s Playground is said to be an innovative space where anyone can enjoy sports regardless of gender, physical ability, or age, with the goal of realizing a healthy community. This everyone’s playground is located in Gaepo-dong Neighborhood Park and Gaepo Seo Neighborhood Park in Gaepo-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and two old basketball courts have been transformed.
This project is the second to be launched since it first opened in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul last year, and is working to remodel the existing space with the goal of improving children’s awareness of physical activity. The ultimate goal is to enable children to enjoy healthy and happy lives by discovering the joy of physical activity and developing confidence through play and sports.
Gaepo Neighborhood Park is said to have been created as a space where local residents can enjoy and experience various sports while maintaining the original function of the basketball court through design optimization.
Nike plans to regularly run the program ‘Active Everyone’ here to provide children with positive play and sports experiences.
It is also meaningful that the benches and storage boxes in the park were reborn using shoes and clothing donated by consumers.
