Nitish Kumar rejoins NDA: Impact on Bihar Election Accounts and Akhilesh’s Reaction

by time news

New Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who left the India Alliance, has rejoined the NDA. His arrival is expected to benefit both in Bihar. However, the BJP is expected to benefit from the re-alignment of the Janata Dal United (JDU) in Bihar. The National Democratic Front (NDA) has been led by the BJP and the party is in a state of upheaval.

Bihar Election Accounts: In the last 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP, JDU and Lalu’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) contested separately. In this, JDU got just 2 seats with 16.04 percent votes. Then Chief Minister Nitish Kumar joined the NDA again in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. As a result, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, JD(U) got 16 seats, BJP 17 seats and Ram Vilas Paswan’s Lokjana Shakti 6 seats. The total percentage of votes of this alliance was 54.40%, JDU’s share was 22.3%. Hence, Nitish’s return is expected to strengthen the NDA alliance with more seats than Lalu’s mega alliance.

Earlier, Nitish’s JDU had contested in Bihar from the NDA in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections as well. In the election results NDA got 32 seats with 37.97 percent. Out of which, JTU contested in 25 constituencies, 20 seats and BJP contested 12 seats in 15 constituencies. It is assumed that the hand of JDU, which has been holding back till now, will be relaxed. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, it is expected that BJP’s hands will be folded and the seat distribution will be according to the party’s results.

A source in Bihar’s BJP state officials told ‘Hindu Tamil Vektik’ about this, “Nitish’s popularity has decreased in Bihar due to frequent team changes. Meanwhile, the BJP’s influence in Bihar has grown as the ruling party and opposition party in the state and two consecutive terms at the center. Hence, BJP has decided to contest more seats than JDU in 2024 Lok Sabha. Nitish has no choice but to accept this,” they said.

Akhilesh is happy: Meanwhile, the Samajwadi leader in UP is happy that JTU chief Nitish has rejoined the BJP. Because Nitish was planning to contest from UP’s Phulpur Lok Sabha constituency. Because Nitish’s friendly Gurmis population is large in Bhulpur, bordering Bihar. The impact of his contest was expected to be felt in some other constituencies around Bhoolpur as well. Due to this, Nitish, who was in India, was urging the Samajwadi Party to allocate a couple of constituencies to him in UP. The Samajwadi is beginning to heave a sigh of relief at the absence of that issue.
