The Chancellery reported that, at the time, there is no report of Mexicans affected by the massive accident registered in New Orleans, United States.

The above, through his X account (@SRE_mx) in which he reported that:

“Following the unfortunate events that occurred in New Orleans this morning, no Mexican deaths or hospitalizations have been reported so far.”

At the same time, the Government’s condolences were expressed to the people who died and were affected by the events, in addition to indicating that making available the means of contact with the Consulate of Mexico in said US entity.

Massive hit-and-run in New Orleans

In the early hours of this January 1 (local time), a man “desperate to provoke a massacre” drove a van at full speed into a crowd celebrating the New Year in New Orleans.

The incident left at least 10 people dead, in addition to 35 injured, until the police killed him.

The incident occurred around 03:15 local time (09:15 GMT) in the heart of the famous French Quarter of this city in the United States, which was full of people celebrating the arrival of 2025.

“This man, the perpetrator, shot at our officers from the vehicle when he crashed it. Two police officers were shot. “They are stable,” the superintendent of Police Anne Kirkpatrickstating that the attacker “tried to run over as many people as possible.”

After what happened, the elected president of the United States, Donald Trump He published a message on his social network in which he linked the events to irregular migration:

“When I said that the criminals coming in are much worse than the criminals we have in our country, that statement was constantly refuted by the Democrats and the ‘Fake News Media’, but it turned out to be true. The crime rate in our country is at a level that no one has seen before. “Our hearts go out to all the innocent victims and their loved ones, including the brave officers of the New Orleans Police Department.”
