No World Cup squad, doubts about some players- Virat Kohli | Indian Cricket Team | BCCI

Mumbai: The selectors are still confused about a few positions in the Indian team for the Twenty20 World Cup to be held in Australia. The selectors argue that it is not clear who should play in the World Cup when Asia Cup cricket is about to start. The Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma said the other day that 80-90 percent of the team members for the World Cup have been decided. But a national media reported that the team selectors are not fully supporting this.

According to the information released by one of the team selection committee, the discussion is still going on who should play some positions in the Indian team. Former captain Virat Kohli is key in that. Kohli is playing in the Asia Cup even though the star has not been able to find his form yet. If Kohli does not shine in the Asia Cup as well, the player’s place in the team will be in jeopardy.

“Rohit Sharma may be saying the position of the management. But some of the squad’s positions as selectors are still under debate. Information regarding the injury of Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel is yet to be received. Both are currently in the National Cricket Academy. As for Virat, we will have to look at his performance in the Asia Cup,” the selector told a sports media.

Indian team captain Rohit Sharma has also stated that there may be some changes in the World Cup team due to the Asia Cup and the series against South Africa and Australia. Deepak Chahar, who shone in the Zimbabwe series, currently has options left. Although Deepak Chahar is the only stand-by player in the Asia Cup squad, if BCCI makes a change in the 15-member squad, Chahar will be given a chance. The selection committee will meet on September 15 to select the World Cup team.
