The North Korean regime launches its own military satellite into space. It is unclear whether Russian help was involved and whether the satellite also works.

The first two attempts failed due to faulty launchers, but on the third launch within a few months, North Korea now claims to have launched its own reconnaissance satellite into space. “Malligyong-1” is the name of the satellite, Great Wall. It is not yet certain whether he can actually provide military reconnaissance. If successful, the regime in Pyongyang would have significantly improved its strategic situation.

According to state media on Wednesday, North Korea’s space agency Nata successfully launched the satellite into space via the “new Chollima-1 launch vehicle.” Leader Kim Jong-un watched the launch from the spaceport in Sohae, as photos in the state newspaper “Rodong Sinmun” should show. The dictator spoke of a “great event in the development of the armed forces of the Republic.”
