Notification issued declaring Thursday a holiday

On the occasion of Durga Puja, the government has declared a general holiday on Thursday (October 10) by the executive order of the government. Due to the declaration of Thursday as a holiday, the followers of Sanatan religion are getting an extra day off for worship. As a result, government officials and employees are getting four consecutive days off around Durga Puja.

On Tuesday (October 8), a notification has been issued from the Ministry of Public Administration.

It is said that in pursuance of Serial No. 37 of the Allocation of Business Among the Different Ministries and Divisions of the Ministry of Public Administration, the government has declared a nationwide general holiday on October 10 (Thursday) on the occasion of the upcoming Durga Puja. All Government, Semi-Government, Autonomous, Semi-Autonomous and Private Offices will remain closed during the general holidays.

Holidays will be exempted

Emergency services such as electricity, water, gas and other fuels, fire services, operations of ports, cleaning operations, telephone and internet, postal services and vehicles and workers engaged in these related services will be out of the scope of this holiday.

Hospitals and emergency services and staff associated with these services will be excluded from this holiday.

Doctors and staff engaged in medical care and vehicles and staff carrying medical equipment including medicines will be out of the ambit of this holiday.

Offices dealing with urgent work will be out of the ambit of this holiday.

Bangladesh Bank will issue necessary instructions regarding the continuation of banking activities.

The Supreme Court will give necessary instructions regarding the proceedings of the court.

Earlier, Mahfuz Alam Dhakeswari, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, told reporters after visiting the National Temple that the Durga Puja holiday is being extended by one day at noon.

Due to the extension of the Durga Puja holiday by one day, the holiday will start from next Thursday. Then Friday and Saturday (October 11 and 12) are weekends. Sunday (October 13) will be Vijaya Dashami holiday.
