As Day.Az reports, the Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (GNTA) said this Numan Kurtulmus during a meeting in Geneva with the Chairman of the Milli Majlis (parliament) of Azerbaijan Sahiboy Gafarova.
Congratulating on the holding of early elections to the Milli Majlis and the re-election of Sahiba Gafarova to the post of chairman of the Azerbaijani parliament, Numan Kurtulmus expressed satisfaction with the successful development of fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey. Saying that both countries demonstrate a common position on all issues, the Chairman of the Turkish Parliament noted that after the 44-day war, new realities have emerged in the region, and in particular, large-scale construction and restoration work carried out in Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur, the opening of the Zangezur Corridor will create great opportunities for the Turkic world.
Expressing gratitude for the congratulations, the Chairman of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, noted that the Chairman of the Turkish Parliament was the first to congratulate her on her re-election to this post. She thanked the Turkish Grand National Assembly for participating in observing the elections with the largest delegation.
Speaker Sahiba Gafarova emphasized that relations between the two fraternal countries, which have gone through a tremendous development path, guided by the slogan of the great leader Heydar Aliyev “one nation, two states,” today, thanks to the political will and joint efforts of the heads of state, have risen to the highest level. It was noted that the two fraternal countries take a common position on all issues, including supporting each other in international organizations.
At the meeting, it was emphasized that the existing high-level cooperation relations between the two countries are also developing on the parliamentary level, and activities in this direction will be continued in the coming years. The important contribution from this point of view of contacts between chairmen of parliaments, friendship groups and deputies was appreciated, and the importance of meetings held at the parliamentary level was emphasized.
During the conversation, it was noted that both countries came up with an agenda of peace and cooperation in the region. The meeting also noted the importance of joint activities of parliaments on multilateral platforms in connection with climate change.
An exchange of views also took place on other issues of mutual interest.
