A Cannes trader was deprived of his location at the market after an attack by his son because “everyone is responsible for their children”, estimated the municipality. The measure was taken on September 9 as a “conservative”, a few days after the charges against the 14-year-old teenager, added the town hall, confirming information from the daily Nice-Matin.
The attack on an 89-year-old to steal her purse, filmed by a surveillance camera, had been widely commented on social networks at the end of August. The mayor of Cannes David Lisnard (LR), also president of the Association of Mayors of France (AMF), had expressed his indignation and asked for stronger measures against juvenile delinquency.

“In addition to tensions in the market with the parents and the threats that have been made against the municipality, the son, author of the blow to the old lady, has been the subject of several disciplinary councils and measures exclusion by various colleges in which he passed. Everyone is responsible for their minor children and must be accountable, ”justified the town hall of Cannes.
The son kept in a closed educational center
The city indicates that it does not rely on a specific article of the city’s market regulations, explaining: “You simply cannot give the right to occupy the public domain to people who cause disturbances in the public order “. The family in question will be received on the occasion of an upcoming allocation commission for places at the La Bocca market, but the municipality warns that it “will not give in to pressure or threats”.
During a hearing before the juvenile judge at the Grasse court on November 30, the trader’s son and another minor were found guilty of theft accompanied by violence and kept in a closed educational center. The criminal sanction will be pronounced on June 28.
