‘Old Tigers’ back on the field; First Legend Cricket League from today

Muscat പഴയ The old horses are once again taking the bat and ball to present mesmerizing performances to cricket fans in Oman. The first Legends cricket tournament starts today in Muscat. The tournament will feature 51 former cricketers from three teams – Asia Lions, India and Rest of the World.

Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Shahid Afridi, Jayasuriya, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, Muttiah Muraleedharan, Shuhaib Akhtar, Brett Lee and Imran Tahir are all in the squad to take the wickets. Cricket legends are once again on the field at the inaugural Legend Cricket League at the Emirates Cricket Ground.

The matches will start at 6 pm at the Emirates Cricket Ground. In the first match, India will face the Maharaja’s Asian Lions. There are seven Twenty20 matches in the tournament. The grand final is on January 29th.


The Indian Maharaja’s team includes Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan and S.K. Badrinath, RP Singh, Pragyan Ojha, Naman Ojha, Manpreet Gony, Hemang Badani, Venugopal Rao, Munaf Patel, Sanjay Bangar, Nayan Mongia and Amit Bhandari are in the squad.

Shahid Afridi, Jayasurya, Muttiah Muralitharan, Shuhaib Akhtar, Chaminda Vaz, Romesh Kalu Vitarana, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Azhar Mahmood, Upul Tharanga, Misbah-ul-Haq, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Yusuf Yusuf, Mohammad Yusuf Wearing a jersey for the Lions.

Oman is set to host another international tournament following the successful conduct of the Cricket World Twenty20. Ravi Shastri, a former Indian all-rounder and coach of the Indian team, is the tournament commissioner.
