In November, a service was launched on the Gosuslugi portal with which you can check the authenticity of a passport. By indicating the number and series of the passport, as well as the name and surname indicated on it, you can find out whether the document has expired, as well as its authenticity – whether the Ministry of Internal Affairs issued a passport with such data. All data is checked against the Ministry of Internal Affairs database. If the document is genuine but expired, then “invalid” will appear, and if it is fake, then “data not found.” Such a public service may be required before a transaction, concluding an agreement, or in other situations when you need to determine exactly what kind of person is in front of you.
