On the same day : 622 minutes of batting.. 38 fours, 11 sixes… the biggest record in a Test after 9 years

by time news
The true test of batsmen is in Test cricket. The status of the person who clears this exam automatically rises. The same happened to former West Indies captain Brian Lara. In 1994, he created the biggest record in Test cricket with his one innings. He scored 375 runs in the Test match against England. This is the highest individual score in Test cricket. However, his record was broken 9 years later by Australia’s Matthew Hayden. He broke Lara’s record for most Test runs in 2003. On this day i.e. October 10 he scored 380 runs in the Perth Test against Zimbabwe. However, 6 months later, Lara again scored 400 runs against England to make this record to his name.

At that time Hayden had scored 380 runs off 437 balls. He batted for 622 minutes i.e. over 10 hours. Hayden hit 38 fours and 11 sixes in his innings. This was Hayden’s first triple century in Test cricket. After returning unbeaten on 183 on the first day of the Perth Test, Hayden broke Lara’s record for the biggest Test innings on the second day.

Aided by Hayden’s 380, Australia declared the first innings of the Perth Test at 735 for 6. Apart from Hayden, wicketkeeper batsman Adam Gilchrist also scored a century. Captain Steve Waugh and Damien Martin scored fifties for Australia. Zimbabwe were bowled out for 239 in the first innings after Australia’s big score. Subsequently, Zimbabwe could only score 321 runs in the second innings to play the follow-on. With this, Australia won by an innings and 175 runs.

Laura’s greatest achievement lasted only a few months in Heidener’s possession. Laraway again claimed that feat. Yes Lara scored an unbeaten 400 in a Test match against England 6 months later in April 2004.
