Indonesian authorities want to ban sales iPhone 16 in the country due to violation of local laws.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Lenta.ru, Channel News Asia reports this.

Last week the Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita stated that the American corporation Apple will not receive certification to sell new smartphones in the country. According to him, the IT giant did not fulfill certain obligations related to investments of foreign companies in local industry.

“The certification renewal is still pending and we await further investment from Apple,” the minister said. To obtain TKDN certification, a foreign company must use at least 40 percent of components produced in Indonesia in its products.

Apple has reportedly allowed the certificate to expire. In order to continue selling its gadgets officially, the company must renew it. It is clarified that Apple invested 1.48 trillion rupees in the Indonesian economy, although according to the agreement it was supposed to allocate 1.71 trillion rupees.

If Apple does not receive the certificate, it will have to import iPhones from abroad. In this case, due to duties, the cost of smartphones will increase by 15-20 percent.
