In the midday hours of Saturday, October 12, an alarm was raised in the authorities Pylos when the United Search and Rescue Coordination Center (EKSED) of the Coast Guard informed about cruise ship emergency which was sailing 15 nautical miles northwest of Pylos.
Specifically, one A 25-year-old female passengera citizen of the United Kingdom, had a sudden health problem and required immediate hospital care. The cruise ship, flying the flag of Malta, approached Navarino Bay, where a rescue operation was launched under the coordination of the Coast Guard.
The passenger was picked up by the passenger boat “SANTINO“, which, together with a Coast Guard patrol boat, transported her safely to the port of Pylos. From there, she was immediately transported in an EKAV ambulance to Kalamata General Hospital, where she was provided with the necessary medical care.
The cruise ship continued on its scheduled itinerary.
