The four trains line up perfectly this Wednesday morning at Madrid station (Spain). On the left lane, the purple train of Renfe Avlo, the Spanish low-cost offer launched in June 2021, with its big white sister of Renfe AVE on its right – the equivalent of the French TGV inOui. Both surrounded by their foreign competitors: an SNCF Ouigo train, landed two years ago, and an Iryo red arrow, a subsidiary of the Italian company Trenitalia, which has been running on the Iberian network since last fall. The four will set off one after the other, at quarter-hour intervals, to reach Barcelona.
