Police team manager Hashem Reda confirmed that his team arrived yesterday, Friday, in the city of Jeddah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in preparation for its important match against the Saudi Al-Ahly team for the fourth round of the elite AFC Champions League competition.
Reda said in a special statement to the (INA) that, “The team is fully prepared despite the absences of four players, namely Ahmed Zero, Abdul Majeed Abu Bakr, Ahmed Farhan, and Hassan Raed, who did not join the team due to injury and remained in Baghdad for the purpose of rehabilitation.”
He added, “Today, Saturday, his team will conduct its first training unit, and tomorrow, Sunday, it will conduct a second and final training unit on the main stadium, which will host the match before the Saudi Al-Ahly match.”
He concluded, “The team’s technical staff hopes that the players will present a match worthy of the name of Iraqi football and the police club in this important Asian forum.”
It is noteworthy that Al-Shorta Club played three matches in the tournament, drawing with Al-Nasr Saudi Arabia with a goal each, losing in the second to Al-Hilal Saudi Arabia by five, and tied in its third match with the Uzbek team Pakhtakor, 0-0.
