30 former students of Thrissur Govt. Engineering College as World Cup volunteers

Doha: Although the World Cup is being held in Qatar, the members of Thrissur Engineering College’s alumni association, Q Get, feel like they are in their own country. 30 people from Q Get are serving as volunteers in this Qatar World Cup. Those who work in high positions in Qatar are proudly lined up in the role of volunteers of the World Cup.

The mission of the volunteers is to help the organizers, teams, sponsors and spectators in the running of the World Cup. From the airport to the stadiums, fan centers and team hotels, the volunteers help.

Serving at least 10 shifts earns a FIFA citation.

Ten Q Get members volunteered at the FIFA Arab Cup tournament in Doha in December 2021. When those experiences were shared in the community, more people came forward to become volunteers in the World Cup. More than 100 applications were submitted from the CUGET group alone. About 40 people were called for interview and 30 people were selected. They are on duty since the last week of October.

Diaz, who was a student of 1993 mechanical engineering batch, is a volunteer in the legal department of Al Thumama Stadium, the venue of the World Cup.
