As for the cancellation of the Loot Box system, it is due to the sequel to the game. Will switch to the seasonal Battle Pass system instead, causing Blizzard to decide to shut down the system. The deadline will be within August 30, 2022. However, the shutdown is to close the purchase of Loot Box that players will no longer be able to buy. But it can still be obtained through other methods.
Until October 4th, the release date of Overwatch 2, those boxes will be automatically opened as Blizzard has removed the random loot box system.
